The State of Affairs

Usually, the "about" page on a Web site doesn't really tell you much, but I think mine is very useful. I'm operating a little differently than many musicians, who either have all their hopes pinned on a singular, special band that they truly believe will break it wide open, or gig all around town with anybody, just enjoying playing and making a living.

I'm in two bands:
The Jason Pastras Trio, which we all refer to as the Jp3. This is a funky, true-school Blues band in the Stax/ early Alligator mold. If you dig Albert Collins, Albert King, old Robert Cray, etc. you'll enjoy this band. This group does some very fresh, not so worn out classics and original material. This band concentrates on some soul, man. That's what it is about. This is stone cold blues and funk, and we only rarely go anywhere near rock music. Try it, I think you'll dig it too much.

AND

The Luxury Kings, a raucous, revved-up and ready blues-rock (A.K.A. "rock") power trio, in the vein of ZZ Top, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Beck, Bogert and Appice(?!?!?), some guys playing blues-rawk real, real loud, etc.

Each of these bands was formed very organically, and each grew into an expression of the blues that was very different from the other. They are each unique. They have their own character. They each move in their own direction. They are each made up of guys that I love playing with, who contribute something inimitable and irreplaceable to the mix.

What's Extraplush?

Extraplush is my online home and the, um, thing that I use to unify all of my musical efforts. My CDs come out on extraplush, I publish and copyright through extraplush, etc.

How Do I Fit In To All of This?

I am open to new things. I can do more than just work with my bands. I can work with yours! I'm available for recording or live work in the Southeast. Use that contact link. Wear it out! I can make another one.
